The Thrive in Spanish classes are so helpful! I feel that I have been able to improve my fluency. Plus the classes are a great deal of fun, the teachers are kind and patient, and I have learned a great deal about Mexican culture. I hope to continue my learning journey after this round of classes ends!
I took the beginner course a couple months ago and enjoyed it. I didnt get to finish it but I'm ready to jump back in again :)
If you're thinking you'd like to learn Spanish as a beginner or want to improve your existing Spanish, then Thrive In Spanish is perfect. I have done about 6 courses and this is by far the best way I've learned. This is because Karen and the other teachers explain the 'why' about the language. Like, 'why should I use this verb tense and not the other one'. And also explain about Mexican culture, and encourage students to share their own culture (eg Australian folk legends). I am an overthinker, so it's great for me to be able to 'pre-load' learning by doing the vocab quiz and activities to prepare for the live lesson. That way, I feel confident to be able to participate in the class. And the teachers are all very patient and kind, yet give useful feedback. Even the homework is fun!
I am currently taking the Spanish for beginners course(weekly). I first, tried the free Spanish class to see how I liked it; I loved it! Karen is super nice and an excellent Spanish teacher. She's very encouraging, supportive, and makes learning fun, not intimidating. Thrive in Spanish provides materials for you to study and practice outside of class, but it is nothing overwhelming. The classes with Karencita are awesome. I have learned a lot of Spanish and a lot about Mexican culture. They are well worth it and the price can't be beat ! I am taking a break right now but I can't wait to get back into it in a few weeks!
I have been having weekly classes followed up with tarea (homework) for about a year now and have made good progress. After investigating a few Thrive in Spanish was the best choice for me. It will be for you too if it is Mexican Spanish you want to learn. It has much more flavour and character. It's not only the language either as a man cant help but get a bit lost in the culture too. This is also well supported by Karens videos around Mexico.
